Poland registered record growth in export numbers in 2015
The continuous increasing number of exports have propelled Poland among the most competitive countries in the EU as its 2015 positive foreign trade balance reached 3.7 billion euros. Among the most exported products by Polish companies were machinery which accounted for almost 13% of the overall exports, electronic equipment which represented around 12% and vehicles which added 10% to the total exports. These were also the categories registering the highest production growth within the last 10 years together with a surprisingly increase of the maritime industry. Companies operating in the maritime sector also registered growing numbers in their exports last year. Germany was by far Poland’s main trading partner in 2015 with a 27% quota of all exports, followed by the United Kingdom.
When it comes to imports, Polish companies have imported products for the manufacturing industries, such as machinery and transportation equipment, chemical products and fuels. Germany once again was Poland’s main supplier of imported goods.
Several reports also show that most of the exports were generated by companies with foreign capital, a sign that foreign enterprises have found Poland as one of the most welcoming countries within the EU.
